Timeline

1. 1993 Pre-history

   In 1993, Comunidade do Redentor began serving people who came asking for help.

   Many came from Bonfim, in Almirante Tamandare.

   The presbytery and pastoral team felt called to be closer.

2. 1996 The beginning

   Dorcas was born, inspired by Acts 9:36.

   The space was rented and prepared for Comunidade de Jesus.

   Marlon Passos began worship services, Sunday school, and violin lessons.

   First choir

   A journey of service and welcome begins in Almirante Tamandare.

3. 1999 Daily service

   A rented, renovated, and expanded space for the families of Bonfim.

   Comunidade de Jesus was created, strengthening service in Almirante Tamandare.

   Marlon Passos began worship services, Sunday school, and violin lessons.

   First choir

   It opened paths of community, music, and hope.

4. 2003 First workshops

   Music becomes a language of formation, community, and opportunity.

5. 2006 Growth

   As Dorcas grew, it gained legal structure as Associação Evangélica Cristo Redentor.

   The brand was created based on the pillars: Service, Transformation, and Dignity.

6. 2012 New partnerships

   In 2011 and 2012, we received the first contributions: one for music and another for soccer.

   Children, teenagers, families, volunteers, and partners build this story every day.

7. 2016 Growth

   Serving almost 300 children, Dorcas began raising funds through the Cultural Incentive Law and expanded its team.

8. 2025 Land purchase

   On March 17, 2025, we signed the contract to purchase the land.
9. 2026 30 years

   Dorcas celebrates 30 years of legacy, impact, and commitment to the future.

   New headquarters

   Campaign to build the new headquarters on the recently purchased land.
